Sweet 16 Round for '15 Business Plan Competition

37 student-led start-up teams from colleges and universities across Washington state - including one from UWT - gathered at the University of Washington last week to compete in the 2015 Business Plan Competition (BPC) Investment Round.

For four hours, the teams, initially selected from a pool of 103 entries, pitched their ideas and innovations to 250+ judges—entrepreneurs, attorneys, investors, and other professionals from Seattle’s entrepreneurial community— in the hopes of landing a spot in the next round of the competition. By the end of the afternoon the scores had been tallied and the sixteen top-scoring teams were announced. These teams will move on to the "Sweet Sixteen" round of the 2015 BPC—once step closer to winning the $25,000 Grand Prize. vHAB University of Washington vHAB is a virtual rehabilitation platform that helps patients regain fine motor skills to lead autonomous lives again. vHAB enables occupational therapists to customize patient treatment and accurately monitor progress through engaging and dynamic video games. UWT Part of Cyber P3i

The U.S. Army Reserve is creating the U.S. Army Reserve Cyber Public Private Partnership Initiative, or Cyber P3i, a center for enhanced cybersecurity training with six universities involved in the program.

Universities involved in the initial program include the Drexel University, University of Washington Tacoma, George Mason University, the University of Texas at San Antonio, Norwich University and the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs.

Jeffrey Talley, chief of the Army Reserve, said each of the schools were chosen for their "excellence in cybersecurity research, teaching and their experience in helping the public and private sectors address cybersecurity issues."

Congratulations to the 2014 UW Business Plan Competition Sweet 16

On April 29, 36 student-led startups from colleges and universities across Washington state gathered at the University of Washington to compete in the Investment Round of the annual UW Business Plan Competition.

This years’ teams, selected from a pool of 92 applicants, demonstrated innovation and inspiration across sectors—solar energy, wearable technology, public health and safety, even sauerkraut! After four hours of pitching to 300+ judges—entrepreneurs, lawyers, investors, and other top professionals—the sixteen top-scoring teams were announced. These teams will move on to the next round of the 2014 BPC, and a chance to win the $25,000 Grand Prize! Stay tuned.
